I bought some of her oranges, very sweet and tasty. The powder that she wears in her face is typical of Burmese women.

Ana Ivanovic (Serbian: ??? ????????, Ana Ivanovi?, pronounced [?anå i?va?n?vi?], listen (help·info) born November 6, 1987, in Belgrade, Serbia, then Yugoslavia) is a Serbian professional tennis player. She is the current World No. 1 on the WTA Tour.

She won her first Grand Slam singles title at the 2008 French Open.[1] She was the runner-up in singles at the 2007 French Open and the 2008 Australian Open.

Ivanovi? was born in an ethnic Serbian family. Her mother, Dragana, a lawyer, attends all of her daughter’s matches. Ana’s father, Miroslav, who is a self-employed businessman, attends as many events as he possibly can. Ana has a younger brother, Miloš, with whom she loves to play basketball.[2] Other hobbies include shopping, watching movies and playing Sudoku. She chooses not to have a permanent coach.[3] Aside from her tennis career, Ivanovi? also studies finance at a university in Belgrade, and Spanish in her spare time.[3] Her inspiration to begin playing was Monica Seles, and she also admires Roger Federer.[4]

On September 8, 2007, Ivanovi? became a UNICEF National Ambassador for Serbia, alongside Aleksandar ?or?evi? and Emir Kusturica. She takes a special interest in the fields of education and child protection. Ivanovi? visited a primary school in Serbia during her inauguration and said: “I’m also looking forward to going into the classroom and meeting many kids.”[5]

Ivanovi? is a fan of all sport clubs competing under the name of Partizan Belgrade.[6]

Ivanovi? is friends with former doubles partner Maria Kirilenko, as well as other professional tennis players Daniela Hantuchova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Sanja Ancic, Rafael Nadal, Tatiana Golovin and fellow Serbians Novak Djokovic (whom she has known since the age of 5) and Janko Tipsarevi?.

The Mystery of Burma

Posted by Doreen on June 22nd, 2008

The Mystery of Burma, originally uploaded by mandalaybus.

Bagan (Burmese: ????; MLCTS: pu. gam mrui.), formerly Pagan, is an ancient city in the Mandalay Division of Burma. Formally titled Arimaddanapura (the City of the Enemy Crusher) and also known as Tambadipa (the Land of Copper) or Tassadessa (the Parched Land), it was the ancient capital of several ancient kingdoms in Myanmar. It is located in the dry central plains of the country, on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwady River, 90 miles (145 km) southwest of Mandalay.

UNESCO has unsuccessfully tried to designate Bagan as a World Heritage Site. The military junta (SPDC) has haphazardly restored ancient stupas, temples and buildings, ignoring original architectural styles and using modern materials that bear no resemblance to the original designs. Likewise, the junta has established a golf course, a paved highway, and built a 200-foot (61-m) watchtower in the southeastern suburb of Minnanthu.
